Where to Rent, Buy, and Maintain Your Instrument
There are many places to rent and buy string instruments in the Twin Cities. Choosing a shop that carries high quality instruments and provides high quality instrument maintenance is a must. I recommend these shops:
House of Note (St. Louis Park) — rent, buy, maintain
John R. Waddle Violins (St. Paul) — buy, maintain
Quinn Violins (Minneapolis) — rent, buy, maintain
Schmitt Music Violin Shop (Bloomington) — rent, buy, maintain
You will need a variety of other supplies in addition to your instrument (a music stand, metronome, and tuner are first on the list) These are some online resources I recommend checking out:
Peak Music Stands — nice, portable music stands
Shar Music — good place to buy sheet music, new strings, and other miscellaneous supplies
Tuner App
Metronome App — I recommend getting a real metronome, too, so you can practice without a phone! (this one is good)
